U4GM Where to Start in PoE2 Campaign boots armor and resists

People talk about damage and "the right build," but your first real upgrade in Path of Exile 2 is plain old movement. Bosses don't let you plant your feet, and even trash packs can punish sloppy positioning. So I treat boots like a requirement, not a bonus: if they don't roll movement speed, I'm replacing them fast, even if the old pair had nice life. While you're learning when to dodge and when to push, having a little extra pace saves you more often than a bigger health number ever will, and it also makes farming early PoE 2 Currency and gear feel way less grindy.

Armor first, even if it feels wrong

If you're new, you'll probably assume armor is "for melee." That's how a lot of us played the first game. PoE2's early acts don't care. Physical hits come in steady, and they come in spikes, and armor is the most reliable way to stop those spikes from ending your run. Evasion can leave you streaky, and energy shield can feel like it's always down when you need it. Put on the heavy chest. Grab the helmet with the big armor number. You can look like a walking anvil for a while. Nobody's judging, and you'll notice the difference the moment a random mob crit doesn't delete you.

Stop worshipping yellow items

A lot of players get stuck because they keep wearing a "good" rare that's ten levels behind. I've done it too. The game quietly punishes that habit with slower kills and way scarier damage taken. Make a simple routine: every time you level, glance at the vendors. Their stock refreshes, and a boring white base with higher armor or a weapon with more raw damage can beat your old rare by a mile. If you've got a couple of Transmutes or Augments, sure, throw them on upgrades to fill out a missing stat. Just don't freeze your gear in time because the name is yellow.

Resist checks and smart currency habits

Acts 1 and 2 have nasty moments where cold or lightning suddenly becomes the whole fight. Plan for it before you hit the wall. Buy a Sapphire Ring early, then pick up a Topaz Ring when lightning starts showing up everywhere. Those two swaps can turn a "this boss is impossible" feeling into a clean, repeatable kill. And about currency: small stuff is for smoothing the campaign, but big drops are your future. If you find a Chaos, Exalted, or Divine, stash it. In trade leagues, that's real buying power, and if you'd rather skip the haggling or just want a straightforward place to sort out purchases, plenty of players use U4GM to buy currency or items and keep their build on track without gambling it away on random crafts.
